Firemen take mutual aid call 4/23/2009
A 911 call to the Smithshire Fire Department April 14 at 5:00 p.m. for a corn stalk field fire at the intersection of 2100 E and 1150 N. Henderson County, ended up with three departments on the scene. Smithshire summoned the Roseville department, who upon arrival, realized it was in Henderson County. Roseville called the Stronghurst department who also responded. A farmer was burning along a fence row, when the blaze extended into a neighbor’s stalk field. Firefighters used 4,000 gallons of water to put out the flames. There were no injuries or damage loss reported. |
