Laverne H. Hillyer

Laverne H. Hillyer, 77, of Mulberry Ark., a former McDonough County resident, died Dec. 17, 1998, in the Crawford Memorial Hospital in Van Buren, Ark.

He was born Jan. 1, 1921, in Colchester to Buzz and Ada Hendrix Hillyer. He married Lois Elizabeth Harwick. She survives.

He is also survived by two daughters, Becky Kern of Davenport, Iowa, and Angela Angelo of Dallas, Texas; and one son, Gerald Hillyer of Pardeeville, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vada Weaver of Macomb and Irene Creasy of Colchester; and one brother, Hancil Hillyer of Moline.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Richard and an infant grandson.

Mr. Hillyer was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the 361st Infantry Association and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a retired parts supervisor for Ametek, Inc., of Grand Prairie, Texas.

Creation rites were accorded by Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home in Macomb. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery last Saturday with military rites by the Macomb VFW Post 1921,
