Dorothy Ruth Robeson Anstine, 99, of Macomb, died at 9:48 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Wesley Village Healthcare Center, Macomb.

 

She was born April 18, 1910, in Pleasantview, Schuyler County, to Jacob L. and Elsie Loring Robeson.

She married Harold Anstine on June 9, 1934, at her parents home in Rushville. He preceded her in death Dec. 7, 1995.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Glen Robeson and four sisters, Eleanor Russell, Mary Acheson, Marjorie Boyd and Louise Legg.

She is survived by two sons, Robert L. (Sue), Macomb and Edward R. (Jean), Sioux Falls, S.D.; four grandchildren, Douglas (Beverly)

Anstine, Discovery Bay, Calif., Susan (Scott) Eiler, Novi, Mich., Eddie Anstine, Souix Falls, S.D. and Jay Anstine, Fort Collins, Colo. and five great-grandchildren, Jacqueline and

Colette Anstine, Discovery Bay, Calif. and Stephanie, Madeline and Elizabeth Eiler, Novi, Mich. Also on the death of Sue Anstine's

brother, his children, Patti Kaufman (John) Sloca and John (Nancy) Kaufman joined the family. Their children are Chris, Wesley and Brianna Sloca and Emily, Haily and Ethan Kaufman.

She graduated from Western Illinois University with both her Bachelors and

Masters Degrees in education. She taught school for many years in Schuyler

County, Table Grove and Macomb.

She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and former Sunday School Superintendant of the Adair Methodist Church, the McDonough County

Retired Teachers' Association, Macomb Women's Club and a life member of both the Order of the Eastern Star and the of the MDH Hospital Auxiliary.

She was a direct descendant of William Bradford, governor of Plymouth Colony, Massachusetts, who came over on the ship, Mayflower.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 17, 2009, at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home, Macomb with the Rev. Russell Smith

officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Cremation rites will follow the services.

Private burial of ashes will be held at Oakwood Cemetery, Macomb at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, Wesley Village Retirement Home or McDonough District Hospital Hospice, the Macomb Public Library or the charity of the donor's choice.
