Charles F. Pittman
Charles F. Pittman, 77, Astoria, died Saturday, April 9, 2005, at 7:04 a.m. at his residence. He was born Dec. 10, 1927, in Smithfield, the son of Arthur J. and Leta F. (Meiler) Pittman. He married Roxie F. Parsons Aug. 11, 1950, in Eureka. She survives. He is survived by one son, Dale (Linda) Pittman, Astoria; two daughters, Camilla (Ronald) Southerd, Astoria and Roxanna (Dan) Cole, Elkhart, Ind.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Pittman, Colchester and Robert (Marianne) Pittman, Blacksburg, Va.; three sisters, Maralea (Phillip) Kessler, League City, Texas and Elizabeth (Ethan) Gramm, Orlando, Fla.; and Barbara Miller, Astoria. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Howard and Arthur (Jack). He was an Army veteran in the Korean War from 1950-52, serving in HG CO 3rd RN BN 34th INF REG T with the rank of SGT (T). He was a graduate of Cuba High School in 1946, employed by Alexander Lumber Co., Astoria, for 16 years, retiring in 1999. He was a Woodland Township trustee and a lifelong farmer. He was a charter member of both the Smithfield Church of the Nazarene and the Astoria Church of the Nazarene. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at Shawgo Memorial Home, Astoria, with the Rev. Dan Cole officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. April 12 at the Shawgo Memorial Home, Astoria. Internment will be in Woodland Cemetery, Astoria, with full military honors conducted by the Astoria American Legion Post #25. Memorials may be made to the Astoria Church of the Nazarene. |
