Charles " Keith" Lawyer
Charles "Keith" Lawyer, 79, Industry, died at 2:45 am Thursday, May 12, 2005 at the Illinois Veteran's Home, Quincy.
He was born Nov. 5, 1925, in McDonough County to Ivond Harold and Ellen Marie (Walraven) Lawyer. He married Darlene Rowland Sept. 16, 1950. She survives.
He is also survived by one son, Ivan Eugene (Laura) Lawyer, Grand Junction, Colo.; three daughters, Vicky Darlene Shepler, Colchester, Kathy Lorene Lawyer, Carollton, Texas and Peggy Dianne Lawyer, Flower Mound, Texas; two grandchildren, Dallas Keith Lawyer and Rachel Mane Lawyer; two step grandchildren, Dylan Zayne Dunlap and Kristina Renaelyn Dunlap; and two sisters, Rosa Mane McBride, Nashville, Tenn. and Donna Ellen Riebling, Denver, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Gerald Keith Lawyer, in infancy.
He lived all of his life m McDonough County except for six months in Augusta, Ga. He worked for 34 years for Wayland Ready-Mix, Macomb.
He was a member of the "Sea Bees" 104th Division in the Navy in World War II from 1944-46. This was a construction group that went into enemy territory and cleared off land and made ready for the Marines to come in and fight. He was in South China seas including Manila, Philippines, Leyte, Samar and Tsingtao,
China. He was president of the Vance Cemetery Board for 18 years. He was a member of the Industry Assembly of God Church where he served as treasurer for more than 25 years. He was also on the board and was a Sunday School teacher.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2005, at the Industry Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Jon Keck officiating. Burial will be in Industry Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening May 15, 2005, from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home, Macomb.
