Neva M. VanVelsor
Neva M. VanVelsor, 75, Quincy, formerly of Bushnell, died at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005, at the Imboden Creek Living Center, Decatur. She was born Jan. 11, 1930, in Walnut Grove, the daughter of Leonard and Josephine (McCance) Sorrells. She married Ernest I. Ike VanVelsor, Oct. 22, 1952. He preceded her in death July 3, 1973. She is survived by one daughter, Tina Marie Rogers, Decatur; one foster daughter, Amanda DeMoss Bacon, Macomb; one granddaughter, Jena Vissering; one foster grandson, Kaden Bacon; two brothers, Duane Sorrells, Macomb, and Ronald Claude Sorrells, Abingdon; and one sister, Margaret Worthington, Macomb. She was preceded in death by her parents. She retired from Eagle Food Stores and then worked for Bergners for several years. She was of the Protestant Faith. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service was held Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at the Martin-Hollis Funeral Home, Bushnell, with the Pastor Chuck Peterson officiating. Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
