Ronnie Thompson, 65, Buchanan, Tenn., formerly of Abingdon, died at 1:50 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005, at his home.

He was born Jan. 20, 1940, in Oregon County, near Alton, Mo., to Edward and Nellie (Delana) Thompson.

He is survived by one son, Michael (Dinah) Thompson, Fredericksburg, Va.; three sisters, Betty (Dave) Moser, Abingdon, Ruth (Robert) Bundren and Donna (Butch) Pickrel both of Galesburg; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Sherry Thompson Larson and an infant brother.

He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1957.

He had lived in Buchanan the past three years and in Murfreesboro, Tenn., since 1982.

He worked for the Jefferson Smurfit Corporation in Galesburg and Murfreesboro, as a supervisor retiring in January 2002.

He was an avid golfer and fisherman.

Services were held Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel with the Rev. Raymond McLaren officiating.

Burial was in Abingdon Cemetery.
