Carle W. Howell
Carle W. Howell, 47, Macomb, formerly of La Harpe, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at his home. He was born Dec. 17, 1960, in Macomb, the son of Richard F. and Beulah M. (Carle) Howell. He married Kazuko Kusama on Sept. 12, 1987, in La Harpe. She survives. He is also survived by one sister, Susan (Mark) Schmitz, Quincy; two brothers, Richard “Holly” Howell, Dallas City, and Cary (Melinda) Howell, Rockford; one nephew, Richard Howell, Italy; and one niece, Clare Schmitz, Quincy. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was raised in La Harpe and was a 1979 graduate of La Harpe High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from WIU. He worked as a dispatcher for the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department and from 1986-1995 for the Illinois State Police in Macomb. He was a member of the La Harpe Masonic Lodge 195. He loved music and played the trumpet, piano, organ and concertina. While in high school, he toured Europe with America’s Youth in Concert. He also sang with the Monmouth College Choir and the Bel Canto Chorale in Burlington, Iowa. Masonic rites will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at Banks & Beals Funeral Home, La Harpe, followed by a memorial service with Pastor Rick Goettsche officiating. Burial will be in Carman Cemetery at a later date. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to services. A memorial fund has been established for the La Harpe Masonic Lodge.
