Isabelle Marvin Zimmerly
Isabelle Marvin Zimmerly, Ph.D., 86, Columbus, Ga., formerly of Macomb, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 11, 1922, in Baraga, Mich., the daughter of the late Norton LeRoy and Isabelle (Buckland) Marvin.
She is survived by two daughters, Isabelle Zimmerly (Brian) Garcia, Mariposa, Calif., and Helen Zimmerly (John) Sacha, Atlanta, Ga.; one son, Philip Norton (Ilene) Zimmerly, Tamarac, Fla.; six grandchildren, Sarah Sacha Dollacker, Caitlin Redd Sacha, John Franklin Sacha Jr., Bryan Isaac Zimmerly, Brandon Justin Zimmerly and Tyler Norton Zimmerly; and other relatives and friends.
She attended college at Rockford College, Rockford, and later attended and graduated from the University of Illinois, where she received her B.A., masterís and doctorate degrees.
She was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority. After raising three children, she taught at Western Illinois University before accepting a position as associate professor of marketing at the Abbott Turner School of Business at Columbus State University. She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. She was active in Columbus chapters of the American Marketing Association and PEO.
Private memorial services will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church at a later date.
