Wayne E. Evans
Wayne E. Evans, 79, Macomb, died at 11:26 p.m., Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at McDonough District Hospital, Macomb. He was born July 12, 1929, in Macomb, the son of Alva and Bertie (McCants) Evans. He married Patricia Mesecher on Feb. 5, 1950. She survives. He is also survived by his children, Gwynne Ann Worthington, Macomb, Tonna Kay (Larry) Padgett, Buchanan, Mich., and Kimberly Lee (Bill) Carrigan, Huntington Beach, Calif.; three grandsons, Clint Worthington and Ryan and Jeremy Padgett; one step-grandson, Nick Padgett; two nephews, Brad and Brent Payne; one niece, Lisa Krieg; and one brother-in-law, Ron Mesecher. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marilyn Payne. He served in the United States Army from 1952-54. He was a member of the Macomb Elks, American Legion, VFW and Masonic Lodge. He served as past commander of the Roseville American Legion. He farmed and worked for McDonough Power for 46 years, retiring in 1994. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home, Macomb, with the Rev. James Oliver officiating. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery with military rites. Memorials may be made to the Macomb VFW or Spring Creek Cemetery.
