Lindsay Metcalf Jr.
Lindsay Metcalf Jr., 90, La Harpe formerly of Blandinsville, died at 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at La Harpe-Davier Healthcare Center, La Harpe.
He was born April 13, 1918, in Hancock County, the son of Lindsey Sr. and Emma (Erbrohdt) Metcalf.
He married Marjorie Bouquet on Dec. 9, 1939, in Palmyra, Mo. She preceded him in death July 21, 2007.
He is survived by one daughter, Sondra (Donald L.) Porter, Blandinsville; three sons, Dave (Linda) Metcalf, Blandinsville, Dennis (Sue James) Metcalf, Sciota, and Dane (Jackie) Metcalf, Blandinsville; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and nine step great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Wendell Metcalf.
He lived all of his married life in the Blandinsville area. He was a farmer and also was a rural mail carrier, bus driver and served on the school board for several years.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home, Blandinsville, with the Rev. Bruce Goettsche officiating.
Burial will be in Glade City Cemetery, Blandinsville.
Friends may call from 3-6 p.m., Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at the funeral home.
There will be no family visitation.
Memorials may be made to either the La Harpe-Davier Healthcare Center nurses and staff or the Hancock County Hospice Program.
