Jesse C. McDonald, 87, Avon, formerly of Bushnell, died at 12:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008, at Avon Nursing Home.

He was born July 21, 1921, in Bushnell, the son of Park and Crete (Darst) McDonald.

He married Thelma Boyd on Jan. 21, 1941, in Keokuk, Iowa. She preceded him in death Dec. 14, 1992.

He is survived by two sons, Jerry (Pauline) McDonald, Bushnell, and Jeffrey (Robyn) McDonald, Glen Arm; three daughters, Patricia Hallam, Nevada, Mo., Debra (John) Keeney, Bardolph, and Mary Jane (Kenneth) Garrett, Bushnell; 14 grandchildren;

24 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters and one son, Edward McDonald.

Graveside services were held Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, at Prairie City Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Vancil officiating.

Martin-Hollis Funeral Home, Bushnell, was in charge of arrangements.
