Anna “Violet” (Hallstrom) Blanchard
GALESBURG-Anna “Violet’’ (Hallstrom) Blanchard, 96, Grove, Okla., formerly of Galesburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at Integris Grove Hospital in Grove.
She was born Dec. 15, 1912, in Greenbush, the daughter of Swan and Marie (Johanson) Hallstrom.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara A. Harrison, Grove, Okla., and Elise Blanchard, Galesburg; grandsons, Brad J. Harrison and Michelle Sunderman of Forest City, N.C., and Bent M. Harrison, Dayton, Texas; great grandchildren, Ally K. and Trace M. Harrison of Dayton, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Leo E. Blanchard, her parents, brother, Rolland Hallstrom, and sister, Margaret Farm.
She was a former resident of Galesburg and had resided in Grove, Okla., for the past six years.
She was a graduate of Alexis High School class of 1932, a nanny for Dr. Sullivan’s family during high school and for the Burch family of Chicago following her graduation, and a former volunteer for St. Mary’s Hospital.
She also enjoyed reading, genealogy, crafts, word seek puzzles, games, flowers, socializing at Grove Senior Center and corresponding with relatives in Sweden.
Graveside services were held Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with burial following. The Rev. Phyllis Sterr officiated.
Memorials may be made to the Galesburg Public Library or OSF St. Mary Medical Center Auxiliary.
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
