Mike Cludray, 83, Plymouth, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, in the emergency room at Carthage Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 29, 1925, in Plymouth, the son of Archie A. and Maude (Newell) Cludray.
He married Mary Akers on May 23, 1963, in Macomb. She survives.
He is also survived by one daughter, Collette (Randy) Smith, Plymouth; one son, Brad Cludray (Cindy Twidwell), Plymouth; three grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather, George Whitaker.
He worked on gas pipelines throughout the United States in his younger years and retired after serving in the maintenance department of the Plymouth school district for many years.
He served as the Plymouth Village Clerk, St. Mary’s Township Precinct Committeeman and the Plymouth Old Settlers Committee. He was a member of the Plymouth American Legion Post 912, a member and Past Commander of Augusta VFW Post 9029, a charter member of the Plymouth Lions Club and served with the Tri-County Fire Department.
He served his country in Germany from 1954-1956 during the Korean Conflict.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday Jan. 12, 2009, at Hamilton Funeral Home, Plymouth, with the Rev. Tom Spain officiating.
Burial with military honors by Plymouth American Legion Post 912 will be in Rosemont Cemetery, Plymouth.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at Hamilton Funeral Home, Plymouth. Memorials may be made to the Plymouth American Legion Post 912 or the Tri-County Rescue Squad first responders.
