Lois G. Harland
Lois G. Harland, 91, Rock Island, formerly of Adair, died at 3:35 a.m., Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at Oak Glen Nursing Home, Coal Valley.
She was born May 4, 1917, in Moline, the daughter of Arthur and Myrtle (Thompson) Van Ormer.
She married Howard Thomas Harland on Oct. 18, 1942. He preceded her in death Oct. 20, 1975.
She is survived by two daughters, Myrlene (Kenneth) Rittenhouse, Rock Island, and Donna Guldenzopf, Moline; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruby Yaste, Pittsfield.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was also preceded in death by one son, Thomas D. Harland, and two brothers.
She lived all of her married life in Adair before moving to Golden and then to the Quad Cities in 2004.
She was a member of the Golden Lutheran Church, was an avid dancer and loved flowers and gardening.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at Pennington Point Cemetery, west of Adair, with the Rev. Michael Thomas officiating.
Visitation will be private.
