Vera L. Brock
Vera L. Brock, 91, a resident of Grand Prairie Retirement Community in Macomb, formerly of Augusta, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009.
She was born July 1917, in Ray, the daughter of Earl and Helen (Prather) Foster.
She married Lyle Dane Brock on June 19, 1939, in Palmyra, Mo. He preceded her in death Feb. 3, 2002.
She is survived by one daughter, Babe (Larry) Hiland, Augusta; one son, Micheal (Carol) Brock, San Marcos, Texas; three grandchildren, John William (Martha) Brock, Coppell, Texas, Mike (Dana) Brock, Corpus Christ, Texas, and C.J. Tucker, Lombard; eight great-grandsons; four step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by three sisters, Marie Ogden, Betty Fawcett and Jenalee Foster, and one brother, Earl Foster.
She was a retired farmer. She was a graduate of Vermont High School and a member of the Living Faith United Methodist Church, Augusta VFW Post 9029 Auxiliary, Augusta Senior Citizens Center, Augusta Book Club and the Tri-County Country Club. She served as a 4-H leader and an FHA parent. She loved gardening and bird watching.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at Hamilton Funeral Home, Augusta, with the Rev. Sandra Bunnell officiating.
Private family burial was in Vermont Cemetery.
