Donald W. McCleery
Donald W. McCleery, 75, Bushnell, died at 5:37 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at McDonough District Hospital, Macomb.
He was born June 24, 1933, in Hadley, the son of Omar D. and Goldie (Mixer) McCleery.
He married Myrtly A. Toland on July 3, 1954, in Harrilson, Ark. She survives.
He is also survived by one daughter, Donna McCleery, Bushnell; two nieces, Marie (Gary) McCombs, Carrol, Iowa, and Bettye Canavit, Colchester; and one nephew, Billy Aten, Bushnell, all of whom he and his wife raised; three brothers, Lloyd (Susan) McCleery, Bushnell, Dallas (Jan) McCleery, Kewanee, and Dale (Faye) Cleveland, Pekin; three sisters, Margaret (Elmer) White, Avon, Phyllis (Bill) James, Bushnell, and Barb (Steve) Wilson, Ozark, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Kenneth and Bob, and one sister, Betty Jones.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Bushnell Christian Church, where he taught Sunday school, was the Sunday School superintendent and served as a deacon and chairman of the church board. He also served as the camp registrar of the church.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at Bushnell Christian Church with Pastor Dan McGrew officiating.
Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Bushnell Rescue Squad or the charity of the donorís choice.
