Louise Kamps

Louise Kamps, 86, Warsaw, died at 5:51 p.m., Friday,

Jan. 16, 2009, at Keokuk Area Hospital, Keokuk, Iowa.

She was born June 30, 1922, in La Prairie, the daughter of Morris and Marie (Moore) Prunty.

She married Harold George “Smokey” Kamps on March 16, 1947, at Warsaw Trinity United Methodist Church parsonage. He preceded her in death May 27, 1988.

She is survived by two sons, Joe (Kathy) Kamps, Warsaw, and Tom (Marce) Kamps, Columbia, Mo.; two grandchildren, John (Jessica), Warsaw, and Eillie (Brad) Froman, Warsaw; two great-grandchildren, Ashlyn and Hunter Froman, Warsaw; one brother, Jerry (Pat) Prunty, Colchester; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Ilene Clampitt, and three brothers, Gene, Wayne and Jim Prunty.

She was second in a family of six and was raised in tough times, especially with the death of her father. Louise was young and the family survived by being supported by her mother during the depression in the mid-1930s. She learned the value of hard work that lasted a lifetime. She loved to cook and served the Warsaw School District for over 20 years, preparing meals many still remember today. She enjoyed sports, following her boys and grandchildren’s activities. She loved her St. Louis Cardinals.

She was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church, the Ralph Parker American Legion Women’s Auxiliary of Warsaw and Spunky Point Senior Citizens of Warsaw.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Warsaw, with the Rev. Paul L. Beisel officiating.

Burial was in Concordia Lutheran Cemetery, Warsaw.
