Margaret L. Thompson
Margaret L. Thompson, 95, Astoria, formerly of Ipava, died at 7:15 a.m., Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, at Astoria Gardens.
She was born July 25, 1913, in Ipava, the daughter of Olin and Fairie (Wickert) Brown.
She married William Elzie Thompson on Feb. 6, 1936, in Macomb. He preceded her in death May 8, 1983.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Ann (Marvin) Kaup, Chewelah, Wash.; one son, Richard Lee Thompson, Ipava; five grandchildren; 13 great- grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one brother, Wade (Alta) Brown, Astoria; and three sisters, Ann Guida, Napa, Calif., Alice Kelleher, Los Angeles, Calif., and Phyllis Strode, Macomb.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was also preceded in death by one grandson, Thomas Lee Kaup, one great-granddaughter, Taylor Reanne Kaup, two brothers, Boyd and Dane Brown, and one sister, Mildred Ebbert.
She was a homemaker and worked as a corn sorter for PAG in Astoria. She was a member of Ipava Christian Church and enjoyed yard work.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday,
Jan. 23, 2009, at Shawgo Memorial Home, Astoria, with the Rev. Ray Garfield officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Ipava Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Prairieland Hospice of Galesburg, Astoria Gardens or Ipava Christian Church.
