Frank Alcorn
FORT MYERS, Fla.-Frank Alcorn, 68, Fort Myers, passed away Dec. 31, 2008, in the care of Hope Hospice at Cape Coral, Fla., surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in Virginia, Ill., the son of Glenn and Dorothy Alcorn. His survivors include his wife, Judy Lee Alcorn; his daughters, Susan (Robert) Schleich, Monmouth, Sherry (Jon) Plain, Macon, Ill., and Julia Alcorn; his sons, James (Rhonda) Bossert, Pine, Ariz., and Stephen (Jody) Bossert, Concord, Calif.; his grandchildren, Tyler, Faith, Austin, Seth, Drew, Adam, Abigail, Ethan, Jacob, Gabrielle and Christopher and his beloved dog, Ernie. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Beverly. He was retired from U.P.S. and served his country in the Army National Guard Reserve. He was past officer of the Elks Lodge 2753 and had volunteered at the No Kill Animal Shelter for many years. In his retirement, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and attending auto races with his friends. He also loved woodworking, fishing, boating, traveling and attending his grandchildren’s activities. He had raced both stock cars and dragsters and held a national championship. He restored his 1934 Ford Roadster that won many best of show trophies. A memorial service was held Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, in Frank’s home with Pastor Jerry Lawson officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Gulf Coast Humane Society or to Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Cremation arrangements were by Akin-Davis Funeral Homes. |
