Bryce E. “Biscuit’’ Shaw
BUSHNELL-Bryce E. “Biscuit’’ Shaw, 80, Bushnell, died at 2:10 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at his residence. He was born March 6, 1928, in Bushnell, the son of William and Clara (Carrington) Shaw. He married Viola Yocum in 1949. He later married Janet Stuart Sept. 20, 1977, in Oquawka. She survives. He is also survived by one son, Jimmie (Teresa) Shaw, Wasilla, Alaska; one daughter, Gloria Haraldson, Galesburg; three stepsons, William Sweney, York, Pa., Jonathan Sweney, Bushnell and Steven (Beth) Sweney, Avon; two stepdaughters, Bambi (Doug) Penney, Batavia, and Heather (Robert) Marshall, Vermont; four grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, six half brothers and six half sisters. He was a World War II Navy veteran serving with Amphibian Personnel in the South Pacific Theatre. He was a life member of Bushnell VFW Post 1422 and the Bushnell American Legion. He was a member of the Bushnell Masonic Lodge and Masonic Consistory in Quincy. He was a past member of Mohammed Shrine in Peoria and longtime member of Moose Lodge International He enjoyed flying, motorcycles and old cars. He played various musical instruments and had an interest in photography, traveling and boating. He retired from Sheet Metal Trade Local 1 out of Peoria in 1990. Cremation rites were accorded. Burial of ashes was held Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, in Bushnell Cemetery with Pastor John Douglas officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Institute for Cancer Research, St. Jude’s Children's Hospital or the charity of the donor’s choice. Martin-Hollis Funeral Home, Bushnell, was in charge of arrangements. |
