Leland 'Dale’ Uhlmann
GALESBURG-Leland “Dale’’ Uhlmann, 90, Knoxville, died at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, in the Knox County Nursing Home. He was born July 17, 1918, in Henderson County, Bald Bluff Township, the son of John P. and Ethel (McBride) Uhlmann. He married Isabel Gibb in Palmyra, Mo. He later married Doris Quick in Abingdon. Both preceded him in death. He is survived by one brother, Leon (Alice) Uhlmann, Galesburg; and one sister, June (Ray) Karzmiski, Manhattan, Kan. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. He worked at Blue Bell Manufacturing in Abingdon for more than 20 years. He also worked in food service at Knox College for 10 years. He retired in 1981. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Abingdon. Graveside services were held Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with Mrs. Eleanor Landon officiating. Memorials may be made to the Knox County Nursing Home, Galesburg Rescue Mission or a charity of the donor's choice. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
