Donald W. McCleery
BUSHNELL-Donald W. McCleery, 75, Bushnell, died at 5:37 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, in McDonough District Hospital, Macomb. He was born June 24, 1933, in Hadley, the son of Omar D. and Goldie (Mixer) McCleery. He married Myrtly A. Toland July 3, 1954, in Harrilson, Ark. She survives. He is also survived by one daughter, Donna McCleery, Bushnell; two nieces, Marie (Gary) McCombs, Carrol, Iowa, and Bettye Canavit, Colchester, and one nephew, Billy Aten, Bushnell, all of whom he and his wife reared; three brothers, Lloyd (Susan) McCleery, Bushnell, Dallas (Jan) McCleery, Kewanee, and Dale (Faye) Cleveland, Pekin; three sisters, Margaret (Elmer) White, Avon, Phyllis (Bill) James, Bushnell, and Barb (Steve) Wilson, Ozark, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Kenneth and Bob, and one sister, Betty Jones. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Bushnell Christian Church, where he taught Sunday school and was the Sunday School Superintendent and served as a deacon and chairman of the church board. He also served as the camp registrar of the church. Services were held Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, in Bushnell Christian Church with Pastor Dan McGrew officiating. Burial was in Good Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Bushnell Rescue Squad or the charity of the donor’s choice. |
