Marjorie Rose Upton
PHOENIX, Ariz.-Marjorie Rose Upton, 85, Phoenix, Ariz., passed away Jan. 5, 2009. She was born at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg Dec. 20, 1923, the daughter of William P. and Alta (Rose) Mullen. She married Howard C. Upton in Galesburg and moved to Phoenix in the early 50’s where Howard started Easthome Realty. She is survived by sons Jeff and Ric; one grandchild, Nicolas; and one sister, Maxine Mullen-Elson. She was preceded in death by her husband and first born, Greg. Marjorie was reared on Edgewood Farms in Avon and was the descendant of two of the earliest settlers of Avon, the Woods and the Roses. She played a role in the Avon Centennial. She graduated from Avon High school in 1941 and attended Western State Teachers College in Macomb and later taught for two years. Marjorie was a good friend to so many with a great sense of humor and generosity. She loved to dance and entertain. She was an avid reader and crossword aficionado. Her laughter will be missed.
