Wrenn Grice
LONDON MILLS-Feb. 19, 2009, Wrenn Routh Grice, 93, London Mills, died peacefully at home surrounded by his wife of 67 years, Evelyn Janette Luman; their children, Carol Janette Major of Worthington, Ohio, George Luman Grice of Radford, Va., and Leanne Louise Porch, Anderson, Ind.; nephew Charles William Grice, Canton; grandson Joshua Christian Porch, Anderson, Ind., and care giver Barbara Hutchins, St. David. He was born Oct. 11, 1915, the son of William Harry and Jessie Ferne (Routh) Grice. Wrenn graduated from London Mills Community High School in 1934 and from Western Illinois State Teachers College in 1938. He taught at North Henderson, Sciota and for 22 years at Canton. Since their marriage Aug. 24, 1941, Wrenn and Evelyn lived on their beloved White Gate Farm. He faithfully supported his community and church, having been a member of the Lions Club, Masonic Lodge and Fulton County Farm Bureau. He served London Mills United Methodist Church as lay speaker and in leadership positions. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Charles William, Harry Byron and Chester Wayne. He is survived by his wife, children, son-in-law, Mike Porch, and sister-in-law, Mary Lavere Luman Shortness, of London Mills. He is grandfather of nine, a great-grandfather of nine and an uncle of 11. Services were held Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, in London Mills United Methodist Church, where the Rev. Paul Newhall officiated. Burial was in East Midway Cemetery, London Mills. Memorials may be made to London Mills United Methodist Church.
