Clayton L. Larson
RED WING, Minn.-Clayton L. Larson, 83, of 2546 Pine Ridge Boulevard, Red Wing, Minn., formerly of Abingdon, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 10, 2009, at his home.
He was born Oct. 11, 1925, in Swedona, Ill., the son of Carl and Nina (Francine) Larson.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; three sons, Larry (Laureen) and Scott of Crystal, Minn., and Bradley P. Larson, Berwick, Ill.; grandchildren, Bradley J. (Jerilyn) Larson, Las Vegas, Nev., Sara Larson, Minneapolis, Minn., Elizabeth (Brent) Tapper, Olewine, Iowa, Amanda and Thomas Larson, Crystal, Minn.; two great-grandchildren, Autumn and Alexis Larson, Las Vegas, Nev.; one brother, Richard Larson, Andover, Ill.; and one sister, Helen Peterson, Cambridge, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Robert Larson .
Clayton attended schools in Orion, Ill. He then served in the United States Navy from 1943 until 1946, transferring to the Marine Corp. in the Medical Department during World War II. After returning from the service, he attended and graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 1948.
June 1, 1949, he married Rose Crady of Wyoming, Ill. They owned and operated Larson Funeral Home in Abingdon, Ill., for 33 years, which included the ambulance service for 25 years in the area.
He was a member of First Covenant Church in Red Wing, Minn. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club in Abingdon, Ill., for 29 years and was a Past President.
Private services were held in Red Wing, Minn., Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009.
Burial will be in Orion, Ill., at a later date.
