Dale Larson

BERWICK-Dale Edward Larson, 67, Berwick, died Saturday morning, March 14, 2009, at his home.

Dale was born July 14, 1941, in Galesburg to Edward and Ada Letha (Sorrells) Larson. He married Julia Kay Hurelbrink June 27, 1976, in Knoxville. She preceded him in death April 13, 1998.

He is survived by his children, Joshua Larson, rural Berwick, Jeremiah (Heather) Larson, Rapatee, Johanna Larson, and Jillian Larson, both of Abingdon; a granddaughter, Julianna Larson-Turner; and a brother, Gale Larson, rural St. Augustine.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.

Dale was a lifetime resident of the area. He graduated as Valedictorian of the Class of 1959 at Avon High School. He attended Monmouth College on a scholarship.

He served for six years in the National Guard, 123rd Field Artillery of Macomb.

He was a farmer, had worked at Neff Company in Avon for several years, had worked at the Abingdon Pottery, and was an oil geologist. He was a non-denominational Christian.

He was an avid participant of Civil War reenactments and was interested very much in history, he was also an antique collector, and was a beekeeper.

Graveside service were held Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at the Meridian Cemetery in Warren County with Pastor David Smallegan officiating.

Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
