Vyrl D. “Butch’’ Butler
LONDON MILLS-Vyrl D. “Butch’’ Butler, 69, London Mills, died at 2 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2009, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born Nov. 14, 1939, in Rock Island the son of Clarence and Genevieve (Anderson) Butler and Dixie. He married Mary Masterson in 1962 in London Mills. She survives.
He is also survived by one son, Scott Allen (Tammy) Butler, London Mills; one daughter, Sheri (Mike) Hohenbery, London Mills; three brothers, Jim Butler, London Mills, Skip Butler, Plant City, Fla., and Rick Butler, Big Sandy, Tenn.; two sisters, Luann Lefler, Bell Buckle, Tenn., and Tammie Anderson, London Mills; and four grandchildren, Malerie (Brandon) David, Lindsey Hohenbery, Brittany Hohenbery and Megan Butler.
He was preceded in death by his father and both mothers.
He was an Army veteran.
Butch worked at Jefferson Smurfit-Stone, retiring in 2005.
He was a member of London Mills United Methodist Church, Fairview American Legion and London Masonic Lodge 848. He was a 4-H leader and was superintendent of the poultry and rabbit division at the Fulton County Fair.
He was also a volunteer fireman for London Mills Fire Department.
Services were held Thursday, March 19, 2009, in the London Mills Methodist Church, with the Rev. Paul Newhall officiating.
Burial with military rites were in Coal Creek Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to his church or London Mills Fire and Ambulance.
Oaks-Hines Funeral Home, Canton, was in charge of arrangements.
