GALESBURG-Frederick “Ted’’ Cramer, 69, Galesburg, formerly of Abingdon, died at 11:07 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2009, at his home.
He was born March 9, 1940, in Abingdon to Wayne and Margaret (Simkins) Cramer. He married Sally Marks June 24, 1962, in the Abingdon United Methodist Church. He later married Janet Ogden.
Ted is survived by his son, Christopher (Stephanie) Cramer, Coal Valley; granddaughters, Samantha and Rebecca; one sister, Linda (John) Hansen, San Joaquin, Calif.; one niece, Julie Sporhase of Colorado; and a nephew, Todd Lincoln of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Donna Lincoln.
Ted grew up in Abingdon and graduated from Abingdon High School in 1958. He later graduated from the Mid-State College of Commerce in Peoria. He was drafted into the United States Army and served from 1963 until 1965. He then worked at the former Gale Products in Galesburg as a cost accountant. He later sold real estate for 15 years and had last worked in financial and insurance sales for AXA Equitable, retiring in 2007.
He was a member of the Abingdon United Methodist Church. He was a past member of the Abingdon Kiwanis Club and was a member of the American Legion. His hobbies included the New Horizon Senior Group in Galesburg and working part-time.
A celebration of life service was held Thursday, March 26, 2009, in the Abingdon United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Dinges officiating.
Burial was in the Abingdon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Celiac Disease Foundation or the Abingdon United Methodist Church.
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
