Phillip E. Steele
Phillip E. Steele, North Palm Beach, Fla., died April 30, 2009. He was born Sept. 24, 1931, in Monmouth, to Charles and Lena (Strickler) Steele. He married Lillian Eloise Chewning. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother William Steele. He is survived by companion, Lydia Stone, North Palm Beach; four daughters, Nancy (Brian) O’Grady, Zion, Cindy (Tom) Trimble, Newark, Del., Jill (Randy) Bale, Terrell, Texas, and Mary (Larry) Dysert, Monmouth; one son, Chuck Steele, Monmouth; 12 grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeffery and Nicholas King, Paula (Steve) Hutton, Robert (Jordan) Trimble, Tanya Tucker, Christopher (Jessica) Tucker, Laura (Omar) Durrand, Elisha and Ashley Lewis, Zachary and Lunden Steele; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was a Roseville High School graduate, and served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of VFW Post #2301 in Monmouth and later Post #10132, Hobe Sound, Fla. He farmed in the Roseville area and worked at Wilson Foods, Monmouth. He moved to Florida in 1988, where he enjoyed farming, good weather and ballroom dancing. The family is planning a memorial service in Monmouth Cemetery Friday, July 10. |
