Anadel Hall Bedenbender, 95, of Rushville, died at 5 p.m., Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at the Culbertson Long Term Care Facility, Rushville.
She was born on Saturday, Aug. 30, 1913, in Rushville Twp., Schuyler Co. to Roy and Annie Dell Nall Hall.
She married Leslie Bedenbender, May 20, 1938, in Jerseyville. He preceded her in death Sept. 7, 1996.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James Roy "Jim" Hall.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She graduated from Rushville High School, received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1951 and a Master's Degree in English, Guidance and Counseling in 1957 from Western Illinois University.
She worked in education for 39 years; from 1933 to 1945 she taught in the elementary schools of Schuyler Co.; from 1945 to 1958 she served as the assistant Schuyler County Superintendent of Schools and then taught junior English and did some counseling in Rushville High School, retiring in 1973. For several years she was secretary of the Mississippi Valley Chapter of the Illinois Education Association, was a former member of the Lambda State-IL, Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society and for a time was the recording secretary of that organization.
She served on the Rushville Public Library Board for several years. She was a life member of the Illinois Retired Teachers' Association and was a member of the Schuyler-Brown Retired Teachers' Association.
She was a member of the Rushville First Christian Church "Disciples of Christ"; BE-KIK-A-NIN-EE Chapter NSDAR; the Schuyler Jail Museum and Genealogical Center; Schuy-Rush Chapter of the Illinois Audubon Society; Scripps Park Ladies Golf League and Culbertson Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. Her interests were various, civic and community projects, golfing, genealogy and gardening.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, May 11, 2009, at Worthington Funeral Home with the Rev. John Sowers officiating.
Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of services Monday.
