Elizabeth Roark, 100, of Macomb, died at 4:34 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2009, at McDonough District Hospital, Macomb.
She was born Dec. 3, 1908, in Macomb to M.E. and Helena Bach Roark.
She is survived by one sister, Martha Roark, Macomb and several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by two brothers, Maurice "Mike" Roark and John Roark and two sisters, Genevieve and Cecilia Roark.
She attended St. Mary's College in Notre Dame, Ind. and received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Western Illinois University.
She was an educator for over 45 years. She served as principal at Roosevelt and Lincoln schools in Macomb.
She was a member of St. Paul's Church, Delta Kappa Gamma, Kappa Delta Pi and the McDonough County Retired Teachers Association. She also served on the Macomb City Planning Commission.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2009, at St. Paul's Church with Monsignor Richard Pricco officiating. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Church, with a wake service at 6 p.m.
Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Loaves & Fishes or the charity of the donor's choice.
