Melba J. Hollenback


Melba J. Hollenback, 78, of Vermont, died at 1:57 p.m. Tuesday May 26, 2009, at McDonough District Hospital, Macomb.


She was born Sept. 10, 1930, in Vermont to Arthur R. and Laura L. Derry Brown.

She married Harlow Eugene Hollenback Feb. 14, 1949. He preceded her in death Sept. 1, 1975.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Steven L. Hollenback; one grandson, Jerry Austin Hollenback and one sister, Margaret Heaton.

She is survived by three sons, Michael (Rhonda) Hollenback and Jerry (Robin) Hollenback, both of Table Grove and Danny (Sherry) Hollenback, Vermont; two daughters, Sharie Jean Hollenback and JoAnn (Dennis) Hollenback both of Table Grove; one brother, Kenneth Brown, Industry; 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She worked in the retail industry for 30 years.

She was initiated into the Laurel Grove Rebekah Lodge # 19 on April 16, 1971, where she was a member until it consolidated with the Victor Rebekah Lodge # 385 of Bushnell on Dec. 20, 2001.

She served as Noble Grand of the Laurel Grove Rebekah's # 19 and as secretary for a number of years; she also served as president of District #12 in 1979, 1996, and 1998.

She was a member of LAPM of Macomb #9.

She was a member of the Table Grove American Legion Auxiliary; she was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009, at the Table Grove Community Church with the Rev. Robert Harrison officiating.

Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Kost Memorial Home, Vermont.

There will be a Rebekah Service at 5 p.m.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to the Table Grove Fire Dept. Rescue or Table Grove American Legion Auxiliary.
