Carl L. Johnson


AVON-Carl L. Johnson Sr., 80, Avon, passed away at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at the Care Center of Abingdon.
He was born Sunday, August 26, 1928, in Abingdon the son of Leslie and Maudie (Postin) Johnson. He married Nettie A. Elander September 4, 1948 in Abingdon. She survives.
He is also survived by two sons, David (Lynn) Johnson, Enid, Oklahoma, and Richard Johnson, Abingdon; two daughters, Nancy (Howard) Muir, and Barbara (Mark) Johnson, both of Abingdon; 14 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; five brothers, Wayne (Lynne) Johnson, Oregon, Lloyd (Betty) Johnson, Oquawka, Ronald (Teresa)‚ Johnson, Avon, Jim Johnson, Greenbush, Emil Sr. of rural St. Augustine; two sisters, Maudie (Luther) Riley, Abingdon and Florence White, Moline.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son (Carl Leroy Johnson Jr.); two sisters, three brothers and one grandson.
Carl was born and raised in the Abingdon and Marietta areas.
He worked at the Abingdon Pottery for 26 years. He was a farmer for most of his life in Williamsfield and rural Abingdon.
He enjoyed the cabin on the Mississippi River, fishing and being in the outdoors. He also enjoyed his family gatherings.
Services were held Saturday,  May 23, 2009, at the Corman Memorial Home, Roseville.
Burial was in the Roseville Memorial Park Cemetery.
