Helen L. Varney 


Helen L. Varney, 88 of Roseville, died at 4:25 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2009, at OSF Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth.


She was born Thursday, Oct. 7, 1920, in Table Grove, to Earl A. and Jessie DeMoss. She married Robert L. Varney Nov. 1, in Peoria, IL. He preceded her on Jan. 16, 1996.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and one son, Robert Nelson Varney.

She is survived by two sons Earl G. Varney, Seneca, S.C. and Terry G. Varney, Aurora; 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the 5th Army Ordinance WWII, transferred to United States research then she was called back to Korea Army Ordinance R.1.0. Status served till the end of the war.

She worked for Caterpillar Inc. in Aurora and retired, after working Service Master in Oak Park.

She played a lot of golf.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Lawson Babbitt Post # 614. She was a member of the Swan Creek Methodist Church and the Swan Creek Lady Chippers.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at the Good Hope Cemetery, Good Hope.

There is no visitation.

Memorials may be made to the O.S.F. Hospice.
