ABINGDON-Donald F. “Donnie’’ Andrews, 62, Abingdon, died at 8:12 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009, in Galesburg Cottage Hospital ER.
He was born July 29, 1946, in Cameron, the son of George Charles and Mabel (Barney) Andrews, Sr. He married Norma E. Abel Pierce May 1, 1970, in Rushville. She preceded him in death Jan. 22, 2009.
He is survived by a stepdaughter, Lynn Weaver, Canton; a stepson, Stanley Pierce, Altona; a half brother, Thomas M. Curtis, Cameron; a brother-in-law, Warren E. Bailey, Galesburg; a sister-in-law, Linda (Clinton) Hills, rural Galesburg; three stepgrandchildren, Angela (Scott) Miller, Megan Pierce and Holly Pierce; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Nathan Miller and Caleb Miller. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and a half sister.
He attended Galesburg and Warren schools. He was employed by Palmer Sales & Service in Abingdon from 1966-1967, Abingdon Farm Equipment from 1967 to 1973, Westbay Equipment Company rural Galesburg from 1973 to 2001, Monmouth Implement from 2001 to 2002 and currently worked at Birkey’s Farm Store, rural Galesburg.
Services will be held Friday, June 12, 2009, at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel in Abingdon with Mrs. Eleanor Landon officiating.
Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery.
Visitation will from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2009, at the chapel.
