Darlene D. Lant
BIGGSVILLE-Darlene D. Lant, 72, Biggsville, passed away at 4:40 p.m. Monday, May 25, 2009, in the Monmouth Nursing Home.
She was born June 30, 1936, in Prairie City, the daughter of Russell and Nida Mildred (Hendrickson) Coombs. She first married Robert Blevins. She then married Max Lant June 25, 1971, in Springfield. He survives.
She is also survived by one daughter, Debbie (Mark) Lumbeck, Oquawka; four sons, Terry (Kathy) Blevins, Winchester, Lonnie Blevins, Galesburg, Marty (Joni) Lant, Northfield, Minn., and Jeff (Heather) Lant, Biggsville; one sister, Peggy (Mike) Marks, Abingdon; Becky Blevins; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Dean Blevins, and granddaughter, Casey Blevins.
She graduated from Abingdon High School.
Darlene was first employed at Hendrickson Paint Service as a salesperson and bookkeeper. She then went to work at Galesburg Research Hospital as a secretary. Lastly she worked at Henry C. Hill Correctional Center as an accountant tech.
She enjoyed crocheting, camping, playing cards and most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also volunteered with numerous organizations.
Services were held Thursday, May 28, 2009, at Biggsville United Methodist Church.
Interment was in Biggsville Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Biggsville United Methodist Church or Biggsville Ambulance Service.
