Carolyn Pumfrey
LONDON MILLS-Carolyn June Bollinger Pumfrey, 79, London Mills, passed away Monday, June 1, 2009, at 6:38 a.m. in Galesburg Cottage Hospital. She was born Dec. 27, 1927, in Farmington, the daughter of Kenneth Eldon and Agnes Elena (Lafferty) Bollinger. She married Robert Pumfrey Sept. 16, 1948. He survives. She is also survived by one daughter, Amy Garrett, Abingdon; three sons, Bobby Pumfrey, Kipling, Saskatchewan, Canada, Kenny Pumfrey, Pierceville, Kan., and Walter Pumfrey, London Mills; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Darwin Bollinger, and Alan Bollinger, Scott City. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Kay Malone, one son, John Pumfrey, one brother and two sisters. Carolyn spent her early childhood in Farmington. She graduated from High School in Gilson. She moved to London Mills in February of 1955 where she had lived since. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, London Mills Woman’s Club, and the Knox County Home Extension. Cremation was accorded. A memorial service was held Friday, June 5, 2009, at the United Methodist Church in London Mills. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church, London Mills, and/or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Corman Memorial Home, Avon, was in charge of arrangements.
