Janice Huls, 67, of Carthage, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at her home.
Janice was born June 10, 1942, in Elvaston, to John Irving and Isabelle (Bennett) Scott. She married Clifford Huls on December 1, 1958, in Carthage. They were later separated.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Janice is survived by four daughters, Cheryl (Brian) Gaines, Bowen, Teresa (Myron) Leenerts, Hamilton, Julie (Brad) Walker, Carthage, and Rhonda (Steve) Vinyard, Bloomfield, Ia.; 10 grandchildren, Lance (Kristen) Homan, Lucas Homan, Taylor Gaines, Rebecca (Jason) Carel, Jeremy (Meghan) Leenerts, Amber Leenerts, Tiffany Mesecher, Macy Walker, and Kiley and Bryce Vinyard; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Karen) Scott, Redding, Calif., and David (Brenda) Scott, Ft. Worth, Texas; a sister, Mary Beth (Mike) Coppedge, Eudora, Kan.; one aunt, Allene (Ray) Clark, Keokuk; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She attended school in Carthage. Janice received her nursing degree from Carl Sandburg College in 1981. She was a nurse at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb for over 20 years. She had volunteered for the American Red Cross and at the gift shop at Memorial Hospital in Carthage for many years. She had also served as an election judge. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies and enjoyed singing and playing piano. She had been a cast member for many musical productions in the area.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage, with burial to follow in the Bowen Cemetery, Bowen.
Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m., Friday, June 12, 2009, at Printy Funeral Home, with family meeting friends from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association, or the Diabetes Association.
