John T. Lewis
John T. Lewis, 72, of Macomb, formerly of Williamsfield, died at 9:25 a.m., Thursday, June 11, 2009, at the Wesley Village Health Care Center, Macomb.
John was born October 3, 1936, in Williamsfield, to Derald and Maida (Stevens) Lewis. He married Norma Allena Bell on May 10, 1958, in Pecatonica. She survives.
He is also survived by three daughters, Sherry (Danny) Hollenback, Vermont, Sheila Walters, Macomb, and Wendy (Jimmie) Trockur, Spring Bay; seven grandchildren, Dustin, Crystal (Josh Easley), Caleb, Jacob, Shane, Amy and Russell; four great-grandchildren, twins Trey and Austin, and twins Aria and Alexa; a brother, Jim Lewis, Knoxville; and three sisters, Barb Ryder, Wataga, Louise (Nick) Moore, Atkinson, and Dorothy (Melvin) Cowley, Rome.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Shirley, Patsy and Kathy.
He graduated from Williamsfield High School in 1953. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a coal miner for the Victoria Coal Mine and retired from the Freeman United Coal Company in Industry. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and racing cars at the Macomb Speedway. He also enjoyed supporting two grandsons in flat track motorcycle racing.
Graveside services with military rites by the Williamsfield American Legion will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, June 19, 2009, at Williamsfield Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of the services at Rux Funeral Home, Williamsfield.
