Wilber Tjark Johnson



Wilber Tjark Johnson, 90, of Carthage, died at 1:17 a.m., Monday, June 29, 2009 at Memorial Hospital, Carthage.

He was born July 10, 1918 to John and Ida (Franken) Johnson. He married Carrie Janssen Huls in 1963. She preceded him in death on February 3, 2005.

He is survived by a son, Marvin (Shirley) Huls Jr., Greensburg, Penn.; two granddaughters, Alice  (Rev. Frank) Podolinski, Greensburg, Penn., and Christa (Rev. Phil) Beck, Natnona Heights, Penn.; six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Abigail and Benjamin Podolinski, and Kathryn, Corey and Joshua Beck; and numerous cousins and friends.

He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carthage. He was an automotive technician at Carl Motors for 44 years. He and Carrie loved fishing, cane chairs, and working in their garden. They also made three trips to Germany to visit relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 3, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Carthage, with burial to follow in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, near Basco.

Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m., Thursday, July 2, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Carthage, with family meeting friends from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Carthage. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
