Clair E.Butcher, 95, of Macomb, died at 8:35 p.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Grand Praire Assisted Living Center, Macomb.
He was born March 21, 1914 in McDonough County to Ross and Anna Mae Eddington Butcher. He first married Irene Robeson on February 2, 1935. She died January 1, 1969. He later married Blanche Gorsuch Runkle on
January 3, 1972. She survives.
He is also survived by one daughter, Vera (Bud) McCoy, Macomb; seven grandchildren, Scott Rittenhouse, Sherry (Marty) McKee, Donna Davis, Jackie (Kent) Oster, Deb (Steve) Miller, Eddie McCoy and Mike (Lou) McCoy; 22 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Barb Rittenhouse and Shirley Ann Butcher; one great-grandson; Jamie Davis; four sisters including twins and three brothers.
He lived all of his life in McDonough County where he worked as a hog farmer and an Industry Mutual Insurance Agent. He was a member of the McDonough Power Co-op, McDonough County Farm Bureau, the former Ebenezer Presbyterian Church where he held all church offices, Scotland Trinity Presbyterian Church and was the sexton for many years at the Camp Creek Cemetery.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 3, 2009 at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home, Macomb, with the Rev. Randy Schafer officiating.
Burial will be at Camp Creek Cemetery, south of Macomb.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to either the MDH Hospice, Grand Prairie Assisted Living Center or Scotland Trinity Presbyterian Church.
