Virgil E. ‘Squirt’ Aden, 86, of Golden, died at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009 at his home in Golden.
He was born September 22, 1922, in Golden to Ehme M. and Anna Hippen Aden. He married Florence ‘Odie’ Heap on May 9, 1948, in Media. She survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Gayleen Douglas (Fred), Golden, and Jerelyn Douglas, Camp Point; seven grandchildren, Brittany Bearden (Brad), Kara Marlow (Chris), Lindsay Wiskirchen (Troy), Jacey Allison and Fiance Jack Ravencamp, Levin Allison, Rylan Douglas and Logan Douglas; and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roswell Aden and Edwin Aden; a sister, Erma Ehmen and a son in law, Daryl Douglas.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden where he had served as a church council member. He was a 1940 graduate of LaPrairie High School and was a member of Tri-County Country Club where he was an avid golfer. Squirt farmed in Adams County for many years. He enjoyed woodworking and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished the time he spent with his family.
