Larry Burkholder



Larry Burkholder, 73, of Macomb, passed away at 12:20 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2009 at his residence.

He was born on Dec. 8, 1935 in rural McDonough County to Eldon and Jewel Arvin Burkholder. He married Monica Williams on October 3, 1965. She survives. Also surviving are four children, Michael (Elsie) Burkholder, Good Hope, Diane (Jon) Kayon, Scandinavia, Wis., Tammy (Jeff) Michniuk, San Diego, Calif. and Timothy (Tricia) Burkholder, Macomb; eleven grand-children, Michelle and Larry Burkholder, Michael, Daniel, Melissa and Nolan Ryan Kayon, Eric and Roman Michniuk and Jennifer, Joseph and Wesley Burkholder; five great-grandchildren, Brett and Zach Spencer, Kayam Kayon and Bryce and Kylie Burkholder; two step-sons, Jarad (Jessica) Huffman, Macomb and Lucas (Mary) Huffman, Goose Creek, SC; three step-grandchildren, Claudia Dennis, Minna Huffman and Madalyn Huffman; and two sisters, Joyce (Roger) Clampitt, Newark and Joan (Dale) Ford of Blandinsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Tyler Burkholder, and one sister, Dorothy Mason.

Larry attended schools in the VIT area and graduated from Bardolph High School in 1953. Before retiring he had worked in the grocery business for Ray's IGA in Macomb, National Tea Company and Krogers. He later became the best known beer salesman in a seven county area, working for Brodie Westen Distributing. He then became co-owner and operator of FloorTek Systems until retiring.

He was a member of the Macomb Elks Lodge #1009, the Macomb Eagles Club where he was an avid volunteer and the Maple Avenue Christian Church. He loved to go to the Eagles Club and play pitch and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2009 at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Reverend Donnie Case officiating.

Visitation will be held from 10 - 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the South Fulton Cemetery south of Astoria.

Memorials may be made to the Eagles Club Thanksgiving turkey dinner.
