William “Bear” E. James Jr.


William “Bear” E. James Jr., 65, of Bushnell, died at 2:08 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2009, at McDonough District Hospital, Macomb.
He was born Feb. 10, 1944, in Macomb to William Ernie and Anna Mae (Kurtz) James Sr. He married Phyllis Bollinger on June 7, 1964, in Bushnell. She survives.
He is also survived by his mother, one son, Larry W. (Tammy) James, Bushnell; one daughter, Rebecca (Tim) Osborne, Bushnell; five grandchildren, Sara (Tyler) Woodside, William Tyler Osborne, Krystal James and her special friend Josh Lillie, Phyllis Christen Osborne, and Heather James; two great-grandchildren, Makenzie and Gavin Woodside; and his little buddy, Rowen.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
He worked for Maytag for 37 years, retiring in December 2002. He worked for Wall-Mart from 2004 to 2006. He was a life member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Midwest Lodge 2063. He enjoyed genealogy work, finding out his family’s history in Kentucky. He was an Elder at the Bushnell Christian Church. He was an avid collector of all things dealing with the railroad, Bushnell history, Volkswagen and had a special love of RC Cola and RC Cola memorabilia.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Bushnell Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Fordyce officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bushnell Fire Department or Bushnell Christian Church Awanna Club.
Martin-Hollis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
