Robert Eugene “Bob” Atwater

Robert Eugene “Bob” Atwater, 57, of rural Rushville, died at 11:15 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 14, 1951, in Rushville to Edwin and Lois (Peterman) Atwater. He married Norma Orr on July 1, 1971, in Rushville. She survives.
He is also survived by his mother; one son, Roy Atwater; one daughter, Amy (Chad) Downs; one sister, Carolyn Hillyer; two grandsons, Christian and Ethan Downs, all of Rushville; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father. 

He worked at Bohn Aluminum in Beardstown for 20 years and in maintenance at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb for the last 18 years. He enjoyed hunting with his son, traveling, being outdoors and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at Worthington Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Pichaske officiating.
Burial was at Rushville City Cemetery.
