Charles "Charlie" Junior Creacy
Charles "Charlie" Junior Creacy, 84, of Hamilton, died at 6:15 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at Montebello Health Care Center, Hamilton.
He was born Oct. 25, 1924, in Taylor, Mo., to Charles T. and Edith Ida (Beckman) Creacy. He married Mary Ann McLaughlin on April 10, 1948, in Keokuk, Iowa. She survives.
He is also survived by three daughters, Carol (Daniel) Gutman, Nauvoo, Christine (Neil) Curtis, Blandinsville, Cindy (Kevin) Nichols, Nauvoo; three sons, Carl (Diane) Creacy, Mt. Union, Iowa, Curt Creacy, Keokuk, Iowa, Chuck Creacy and friend Leeza, Balboa Island, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Christopher Flynn, Joshua Gutman, Neil Taylor, Tessa Shutwell, Jacob, Ashley, Tyler Burtalo; and two great-grandchildren, Payton Jarvis and Cameron Shutwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild, Justin Burtalo.
He graduated from Ewing High School in Ewing, Mo., and Quincy College, Quincy. He served his country in the Air Corp. while stationed in the United States and overseas during World War II. He lived in Nauvoo for over 37 years before he moved to Mississippi in 1998, later returning in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina.
He worked for Union Electric, Atlantic Richfield, and for architects at Minnesota. He built the mobile home park in Nauvoo. He and his wife owned and operated the "C & M Variety Store" in Nauvoo. He was an avid golfer and loved playing pool, reading and gardening. He was a member of the American Legion, Elks Lodge and Deer Run Golf Course in Hamilton.
