Lora G. Bishop
ABINGDON-Lora Geneva (Bramlett) Harper Bishop, 100, Abingdon, died at 6:05 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville.
She was born March 31, 1909, in Fremont, Mo., the daughter of Montgomery and Bertie May (Shoemaker) Bramlett. She married Golden Waylen Harper May 9, 1925, in Brockett, Ark. He preceded her in death Oct. 19, 1935. She later married Arthur Bishop in January 1941 in Burlington, Iowa. He preceded her in death July 5, 1972.
She is survived by four daughters, Mildred (Bill) Davis, St. Augustine, Charlene (John) Yeager, Galesburg, Ruby Waterman, Lewistown, Mont., and Marjorie Sailer, Galesburg; one son, Don (Myra Jane) Harper, Abingdon; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 35 great-great grandchildren; and six great-great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Cecil (Verna) Bramlett, East Galesburg; a sister-in-law, Nancy Bramlett, Galesburg, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, two grandsons, one great-grandson, five brothers and seven sisters.
Lora was a homemaker and had lived in the Hermon and Abingdon areas most of her life. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Abingdon.
Services were held Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009, in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel with Eleanor Landon officiating.
Burial was in the Hermon Cemetery.
