ABINGDON-Sandra K. Boyer, 65, Abingdon, died at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2009, in Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.
She was born Nov. 16, 1943, in Galesburg, the daughter of Roy and Grace (Price) Sloan. She married Jan “Toby’’ Cox. She later married James “Bo’’ Boyer Oct. 16, 1966, in Virginia, Ill. He preceded her in death Dec. 17, 1998.
She is survived by two sons, Michael W. Cox, Cameron, and Brad (Cindy) Boyer, Denmark, Iowa; two granddaughters, Abigail and Allison Boyer; two stepchildren, Tim Boyer, Pleasant Plains, and Vicki (Victor) Gray, Abingdon; four stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers, Roy (Marie) Sloan of Texas, and Tom (Cee) Sloan, Delong; two sisters, Judy Williams and Rose (Walter) Speaker, all of Texas.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Benjamin James Boyer, and a brother, Richard Sloan.
She graduated from Abingdon High School.
She worked as a waitress at the former Friendly Cafe in Abingdon. She then worked at Admiral Manufacturing in Galesburg for several years. She also co-owned and operated the C & I Sandwich Shop in Galesburg. She last worked as a guard at the Henry Hill Correctional Center in Galesburg.
Services were held Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009, in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon chapel with Mrs. Eleanor Landon officiating.
Burial was in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg.
