Carl W. Sturm
Carl W. Sturm, 79, of Macomb, died at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at Heartland Health Care Center, Macomb.
He was born Jan. 20, 1930, in Macomb, to George A. and Vera I. (Hickman) Sturm. He married Nancy R. Alexander on Sept. 29, 1950, in Macomb. She preceded him in death July 31, 1989.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, William and Thomas Sturm, and one sister, Irene Wiegman.
He is survived by three daughters, Cyndy (Mark) Waller, Ipava, Jan (Ronald) Arteaga, Roseville, and Tracie L. (Michael) Whitney, Deland, Fla.; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Charles Sturm Orlando, Fla., Donald Sturm, Wonder Lake, and James Sturm, Sciota; three sisters, Lu Jean Scammon, Richland, Wash., Ann Jones, Santa Barbara, Calif., and Barbara Sturm, Macomb.
He served in the Army National Guard during the Korean War. He owned and operated Sturm Heating and Cooling with his father. He also worked at Western Illinois University, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Macomb American Legion Post 6 and AM VETS. He was a past member of the Lamoine Ramblers Motorcycle Club and was an avid fan of all racing.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
He has donated his remains to the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois for Scientific Studies.
